Recently the Los Angeles City Council held hearings on the thorny issue of medical marijuana dispensary regulation. For years city officials have abrogated their duty to create sensible regulations for the dispensaries that have proliferated across the Los Angeles basin. The number of dispensaries has ballooned to over 500 (not the 1,000+ often claimed) following an ineffective moratorium on the retail medical marijuana outlets.

It was New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine’s  last day in office and one supposes he wanted to clear his desk; in doing so, he signed 55 bills, one of which included a bill for legalizing medical marijuana.
You can’t get more mainstream in the media than The New York Times and Wall Street Journal, who both highlight the growing medical acceptance of medical cannabis and the uber-political conditions placed on medical researchers who want to conduct rigorous scientific studies on cannabis’ medical efficacy and safety.
New Jersey joined more than a dozen states on Monday in legalizing medical marijuana use with the signing of legislation into law by Gov. Jon S. Corzine.

The good doctor obviously knows his marijuana – and so he should, he has prescribed it as a medicine more times than any other doctor in the state of Oregon.
